Timely maintenance of an electronic driver's logbook

Even in the case of automatic recording of travel times and distances, the information on the purpose of the trip, which is also mandatory, must be supplemented in a timely manner.

In order to automate the tedious task of keeping a driver's logbook as much as possible, there is now a whole range of electronic aids on the market. However, the direct electronic recording of the journeys of a company car by a technical system with a GPS module alone does not satisfy the requirements for a proper driver's logbook. According to a ruling by the Lower Saxony Fiscal Court, in addition to the movement profile, the reasons for the journey must also be recorded in real time and the actual mileage on the speedometer must be compared with the calculated mileage from time to time. A technical solution that allows changes even after years is rightly not accepted by the tax office as an electronic driver's logbook.
