Tax consultants' association rejects tax assessments on Saturday
The German Association of Tax Consultants is calling for corrections to a change in the law that could lead to tax assessments also being announced on a Saturday in future.
In order to meet a long-standing demand from Deutsche Post AG, the legislator wants to extend the delivery times for letters. However, if letters are in transit for longer, this can lead to problems with the current fictitious delivery of tax assessments on the third day after posting. This fictitious delivery should therefore also be extended by one day.
In the slipstream of these adjustments, the German government is planning to allow tax assessments to be announced on Saturdays in future. In a statement on the planned amendment to the law, the German Tax Consultants Association is against this change and is also calling for an extension of the fiction of delivery to five working days instead of the planned four days.
