Mediation committee discusses Growth Opportunities Act

At the end of February, the Conciliation Committee will finally discuss the Growth Opportunities Act and four other laws so that these legislative procedures can be concluded.

On February 21, 2024, the Mediation Committee of the Bundestag and Bundesrat will deal with five laws for which the Bundesrat or the Federal Government have called on the Mediation Committee, including the Growth Opportunities Act. This law was passed by the Bundestag on November 17, 2023. The federal states criticize the fact that the Bundestag only selectively addressed the Bundesrat's proposed amendments from the first round of the draft bill. There is also a need for revision due to the many last-minute changes in the Bundestag process. The financial burden on the federal states and local authorities is also too high. Renegotiations are now underway.
