Time of receipt for a bank transfer

In the case of actual taxation, it is not the date of creation that is important for a bank transfer, but the posting date of the incoming payment.

If the VAT liability is determined on the basis of actual values (taxation according to consideration received), it depends on when the payment is received. The Federal Fiscal Court has determined that in the case of bank transfers, the payment is only received at the time it is credited to the payee's current account, even if the value date (value date) has already occurred at an earlier point in time. The case in dispute concerned a credit entry that was only posted to the account by the bank on January 2, but was value dated December 31. The decisive factor for the Federal Fiscal Court was that the recipient can only dispose of the amount once it has been booked by the bank. The value date is therefore irrelevant.
