Tax offices maintain Christmas peace
In the period around Christmas, the tax offices traditionally refrain from taking onerous measures wherever possible.
As in previous years, the tax offices are once again showing consideration for taxpayers this year. The exact regulations differ between the individual federal states, but at least in the last two weeks of the year, the tax offices are instructed to refrain from any measures that could be perceived as a burden during the Christmas period. In particular, the tax offices will not announce or start any external audits or carry out any enforcement measures during this period. Exceptions will only be made in the event of an impending statute of limitations.
