Disclosure deadline for 2021 annual financial statements extended

The Federal Office of Justice will only begin to initiate administrative fine proceedings after Easter if the annual financial statements to be submitted by the end of 2022 are still not available by then.

Many companies - especially corporations - are obliged to publish or at least file their annual financial statements within one year of the balance sheet date. If this is not done on time or in full, the Federal Office of Justice will initiate administrative fine proceedings. However, in view of the ongoing after-effects of the pandemic, the Office, in coordination with the Federal Ministry of Justice, will not initiate administrative fine proceedings before April 11, 2023, as in the previous year, against companies whose statutory deadline for disclosure ends on December 31, 2022.
