Deadline for property tax returns extended until January 2023

The federal states have agreed to extend the deadline for submitting property tax returns by three months until the end of January 2023.

Shortly before the end of the old submission deadline for property tax assessment declarations, the finance ministers of the federal states have decided to extend the submission deadline by three months. Instead of October 31, 2022 as planned, the declarations of assessment now only have to be submitted by January 31, 2023. One reason for the decision was that even shortly before the deadline, only 25 to 30 % of the declarations had been received by the tax offices, another was that citizens and tax advisors are currently fully occupied with other problems relating to the energy price crisis and coronavirus economic aid. In the meantime, the tax offices have already sent out the first notices for the declarations already received, but it will take until 2024 for all notices to be sent out.
