Access relief for short-time work extended

The war in Ukraine has prompted the German government to extend access relief for short-time work by a further three months until the end of September 2022.

The special arrangements for short-time work created during the pandemic were actually due to expire at the end of June because the period of lockdowns is over, at least for the time being. However, the German cabinet has now decided to extend access to short-time working by a further three months until September 30, 2022. The background to this is the war of aggression on Ukraine and the associated supply chain problems for individual companies. Until the end of September, short-time work will thus continue to be possible for as few as 10 % of employees. The build-up of negative working time balances prior to the granting of short-time allowance will also continue to be completely waived. By contrast, the other pandemic-related special arrangements for short-time allowance will expire as planned on June 30, 2022.
