Extension of short-time allowance until the end of 2021

Easier access to short-time allowance, which was previously only available to companies introducing short-time work by September 30, 2021, will be extended for all companies until the end of 2021.

With the Fourth Ordinance Amending the Short-Time Work Benefit Ordinance, the German government has extended the relief on access to short-time work benefits, which was limited until the end of 2021 to companies that introduced short-time work by September 30, 2021, to all companies regardless of when short-time work was introduced, and has also extended the full reimbursement of social security contributions until December 31, 2021. This takes account of the continuing uncertain infection situation and the resulting consequences for individual sectors through the employment-securing measures in the short-time allowance.
