Regulations on short-time work to be extended again
Pandemic-related short-time work relief is extended again and now applies to businesses that implement short-time work through September 30, 2021.
In June 2021, more than 2 million employees are still on short-time working. The German government has therefore once again extended the various relief measures for short-time working. The reduced access requirements will now apply until December 31, 2021 for companies that introduce short-time work by September 30, 2021. The employer's share of social security contributions will also be reimbursed at 100 % until September 30, 2021. Until December 31, 2021, 50 % will then still be reimbursed, unless a qualification measure takes place during the short-time work. If employees are qualified during short-time work, the employment agency can still reimburse 50 % of the social security contributions until July 31, 2023. However, the simplified access requirements will then no longer apply.
