Corona crisis: telephone sick leave over 14 days initially until June

Patients with respiratory illness can also currently have their physician call in sick to help contain the spread of the virus if a corona infection is suspected.

The KBV (Kassenärztliche Bundesvereinigung - German Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians) points out that physicians are now allowed to write their patients sick by telephone for up to 14 days. The prerequisite is that it is a mild illness of the upper respiratory tract, even if there is a suspicion of infection with the coronavirus. This allows patients to stay at home in case of suspicion. This is to reduce the risk of the virus spreading. This also applies if a child falls ill. The regulation on the telephone certificate of incapacity to work is initially limited until June 23.
