Extended submission deadline for electronic tax return
Several federal states are already granting two months more time for submitting tax returns this year if they are digitally signed and submitted to the tax office.
From 2019, taxpayers who submit their tax returns to the tax office themselves will generally have two months more to file their income tax returns. This extended submission deadline is part of the Act to Modernize the Taxation Procedure. However, as was the case last year, some federal states are also granting a longer submission deadline for the 2017 income tax return this year. Only Rhineland-Palatinate is not making the extension of the submission deadline from May 31 to July 31 subject to any conditions. In Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia, on the other hand, the later submission deadline only applies to taxpayers who submit their tax returns authenticated via ELSTER.
