Implementation of data protection requirements at the tax authorities
The tax authorities must also comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and are publishing a fact sheet with instructions for taxpayers.
On May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation will come into force throughout the EU. Not only companies, associations and other private institutions must follow the requirements in the GDPR, but also public institutions. In order to comply with the information requirements, the German Federal Ministry of Finance has now produced a six-page fact sheet with explanations on the collection, storage and processing of taxpayer data, which can be found, among other places, at http://www.finanzamt.de and is available on the ELSTER website.
