Fraud emails in the name of the Federal Central Tax Office
A mail with a reference to an alleged tax refund only serves to trick recipients into installing malware.
Once again, e-mails claiming an alleged tax refund are circulating, misusing the name of the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) and distributing malware. The BZSt therefore warns: Do not open these e-mails under any circumstances and delete them immediately. Notifications about tax refunds are not sent by mail. Moreover, it is not the BZSt that is responsible for the refund of overpaid taxes, but the relevant tax office.
