The German Economic Institute regularly examines how much ice cream Germans can afford. To do this, the researchers compared ice cream prices with the average net wage per hour.

And so, they have determined, the working time for a "Magnum" has developed over the years:

🍦 In 2000, we still needed 6 minutes and 7 seconds - at an ice cream price of 1.28 euros
🍦 In 2020, we already had to invest 6 minutes and 28 seconds. The price of the ice cream was 2.20 euros.
🍦 And today, in 2025, we work for 6 minutes and 53 seconds to treat ourselves to an ice cream for 2.90 euros.

If you think the increase of 46 seconds per ice cream in 25 years is already a lot - what do you say about the development of the "Capri"?

Here, the working time required has increased by 1 minute and 8 seconds since 2000:

🍦 Year 2000: 1 minute and 57 seconds at an ice cream price of 0.41 euros
🍦 Year 2020: 2 minutes and 56 seconds at an ice cream price of 1.00 euro
🍦 Year 2025: 3 minutes and 5 seconds at an ice cream price of 1.30 euros
