WSB News: Planned e-car subsidy - These purchase incentives can electrify you
The German government is planning to subsidize electric cars. State purchase premiums of up to 6,000.00 euros are planned!
With retroactive effect from 01.01.2026, the German government wants to promote e-mobility with new purchase premiums and support low-income households in particular. Both the purchase and leasing of:
✔️ New vehicles (A) with purely battery-electric drive and
✔️ New vehicles (B) with plug-in hybrid drive or range extender that meet certain CO2 requirements.
✔️ The amount of the grant depends on your taxable household income (zvE) and the number of children you have.
The following staggering is planned:
You are expected to be able to apply for the subsidy online from May 2026 - and no later than one year after registering the vehicle. You will need
📄 Copy of the purchase or leasing contract
📄 Vehicle registration document
📄 the last 2 tax assessment notices
Important: You must keep the car for at least 36 months!
