Christmas time is donation time - Saving taxes with heart: this is how it works!

The fact is: the special expenses deduction reduces your tax burden. And did you know that you can deduct donations for the promotion of charitable, benevolent or ecclesiastical purposes with up to 20 % of the total amount of your income deductible as special expenses?

However, if you donate a particularly large amount and exceed this limit, you will not lose out on your charitable donation for tax purposes: you can deduct the unclaimed part of the donation from your taxable income. carried forward to the following year!

Your donations of time and goods are also deductible!
Donations in kind can be deducted at market or fair market value: For newly acquired goods you can use the purchase price. If you donate used items, you must determine the value that would have been achieved in a sale.
If you have your Working hours donate, you must agree an appropriate remuneration with the beneficiary organization in advance of the activity and waive this later. You can then deduct the missing remuneration as a donation.

You only need a donation receipt for large amounts.
Individual donations up to 300.00 euros can be deducted from your income tax return without a donation receipt. A bank statement or cash payment receipt is sufficient proof.
Only with higher amounts you must have a donation receipt issued by the recipient of the donation. If the tax office wants to see this, it will contact you.

So do something good and get the tax office involved! 😊
