When expensive cars become even more expensive - WSB on curious types of tax
High expenditure with tight state coffers has always led to creative ideas. Luxury taxes are always popular.
The idea behind this is clear: if you can afford such expensive goods, you will have no problem paying a few percent more.
One example: If you want to show off, you have to pay.
China's Ministry of Finance recently adjusted the existing special tax on luxury cars. The extra tax of 10 % is now due from a net price of the equivalent of 108,000.00 euros. Previously, the threshold was around 156,000.00 euros.
Fun Fact: Unlike in Germany, there are no concessions for e-vehicles - but there are for luxury used cars.
Kind of absurd? Well, yes. Luxury cars under communism are just like caviar in the canteen: officially not necessary, but surprisingly often sold out.
